Camden in Bloom 2019 - Business & Residential Competition

Closed 28 Jul 2019

Opened 2 May 2019

Overview

Camden - our urban garden

Gardens contribute to creating local greenery. Think of your garden, balcony, baskets or pots as one piece of your local urban garden made up of all your neighbour’s gardens, your local parks, green spaces and street trees.

So, your garden, small or big, your tree in a pot, the hedge in your front garden, your basket or your small bush, are all important pieces of Camden’s greenery and, play a key role in supporting local biodiversity and cleaning our local air.

Rich and healthy local greenery will bring the following benefits:

  1. Regulate local temperature, reducing the impact of extreme temperatures.
  2. Soft landscaped, as opposed to paved over, front gardens and small green areas such as patios and drives, contribute to reducing the impact of flooding.
  3. Offer food and shelter to local wildlife including insects, birds and small mammals such as hedgehogs.
  4. Contribute to reducing local air pollution.
  5. Temporarily remove CO2 from the atmosphere, one of the main gases responsible for climate change.
  6. Make people feel better.
