How can Camden Council improve its caretaking service?

Closed 21 Jul 2019

Opened 5 Jun 2019

Overview

Over the winter we reviewed the council’s caretaking and estate cleaning and asked you what you think about your service. We wanted to know if you are happy with the way we look after your home, so we could find out how to improve the service we provide to you.

Thank you

Over 1,300 tenants and leaseholders took part in the review – thank you to everyone who got involved. By sharing your views you are helping to improve your caretaking service for the future.

Our proposal

You told us in the review that you really value your caretaking service but want it improved.

We have thought about what you told us and created a proposal of what we think your improved caretaking service could look like. We think that the way to make your caretaking service better is to bring the external estate cleaning service (currently carried out by our contractor Veolia) back into the council as part of the caretaking service. We also propose creating additional roles for extra capacity. The full proposal is detailed in the next survey pages.

What do you think?

We want you to tell us what you think – you can have your say in under ten minutes. Thank you in advance for your feedback which will help us to shape how we look after your home. If you have any questions about the review please email caretakingreview@camden.gov.uk

The consultation closes at midnight on Sunday 21 July 2019.

What happens next

The consultation has now closed.

Following this consultation process, a report will be written and presented for a decision to the Cabinet Member for Better Homes. This decision is expected to be made in August 2019. If the proposals are agreed, it is expected a new service model for the caretaking service will be implemented by October 2019.

Any agreed increase in charges would not come into effect until April 2020.
