St Andrews Gardens Consultation
Overview
The consultation was to find out what the public thought about the proposals to make better use of the space in St Andrew’s Gardens to bring some more colour into the planting and to include elements that are beneficial to wildlife.
The main plans included:-
- new flower beds and a floral walkway
- traditional wildflower meadow with small fruit trees
- removing the tired rose beds and overgrown shrubs
- using the gravestones piled in the park as a feature to mark the original path
- reducing some path widths to increase the amount of lawn in the gardens
- repairing and resurfacing paths
We welcomed views from those interested in the future plans for St Andrews Gardens.
A consultation exercise was undertaken between 19 September and 9 October which consisted of publication of details on the website, posters in St Andrew’s Gardens and 2 events – 28 September and 8 October. Local residents, councillors and community groups were notified of the consultation.
Key findings of the consultation

Why your views matter
We wanted to provide information to locals on the proposals to refurbish St Andrew's Gardens with a new planting scheme and new paths and listen to any comments they had.
Plans were displayed in the gardens for the duration of the consultation and we hosted an event on Wednesday 28 September between 1pm and 4pm to allow people to discuss these plans with members of the parks department.
