Consultation on The Mayor of London's draft Housing Strategy
Overview
The Mayor of London has just launched a consultation on his draft London Housing Strategy.
The main proposals include strengthened home ownership and low cost ownership for working Londoners, bringing forward public land for development and improving the quality of existing and new homes.
There are a number of themes in the Mayors housing strategy:
- Finance- the implementation of a long-term settlement for housing, with greater autonomy over property taxes and borrowing.
- Product - an increased offer of support to the working Londoners critical to economic growth.
- Land - exploiting the potential for increased levels of housing bringing forward public land and regeneration projects.
- Quality - building to high and consistent design standards, while also improving the condition and environmental performance of London’s homes.
Camden will be sending a response to the Mayors draft London strategy.
You can read and respond directly to the Mayor with your view on his strategy at the address given below.
The consultation period runs from 25 November 2013 to 17 February 2014, during which time the Mayor would like to receive Londoners’ views about the issues raised in this draft strategy. Following this, the draft will be revised and it is intended that a final proposed version will be submitted by the Mayor to the London Assembly and then subsequently to the Secretary of State in Spring 2014.
