Camden Safeguarding Children Board Annual Compliance Checklist for School Leaders and Governors
Overview
You may remember completing a compliance checklist last year which is part of the Local Authorities statutory safeguarding responsibilities and is a requirement for all schools to complete.
The Questionnaire
We have significantly condensed and reduced the questionnaire to 21 questions, with a quick Yes or No answer that should only take about 15 minutes to complete.. We have also included guidance on the compliant criteria to make it easy to answer. Please include any actions for criteria where you are not compliant.
The checklist and any actions will also help to ensure your safeguarding systems and policies meet statutory safeguarding requirements.
The information will be used to report back to the Camden Safeguarding Children Board and a copy of the report sent to all schools.
Background
Section 175 of the Education Act 2002 places a statutory duty on Local Authorities and governing bodies of maintained schools to have arrangements in place to ensure that they safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Section 157 of the Act places the same responsibilities on Independent Schools and Academies. The governing body is accountable for ensuring that the school has effective policies and procedures in place in accordance with DfE guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2015). This will be updated for September 2016.
Please complete by January the 5th
