Consultation on the proposed expansion of Kingsgate primary school and redevelopment of the Liddell Road site

Closed 15 Oct 2013

Opened 17 Sep 2013

Overview

Camden’s Cabinet agreed to take forward a proposal to expand the school at its meeting on 18 July 2012. The expansion of the school would require the redevelopment of the Liddell Road light industrial site.

The school expansion is needed to help meet the pressing need for primary school places in the north-west of Camden.

Why your views matter

We are consulting on a proposal to expand Kingsgate Primary school to create 420 new school places in Camden.

There are currently 2 classes (60 children) in each year group.  Expansion of the school will provide space for 4 classes (120 children) in each year group.

The expansion of the school would require the redevelopment of the Liddell Road light industrial site to include a new school building for up to 360 children aged 4 to 7 years old, and a new nursery for up to 52 children aged 3 to 4 years old. An additional 60 new places will be provided at the Kingsgate Road site.

If the scheme is approved, the redevelopment of the Liddell Road site could provide a high quality environment for:

  •  a new infants and nursery school,
  • new commercial space to replace existing employment space on the site,
  • new homes for sale which will help to pay for the proposal.
