Our tenants’ voices matter

We know that our tenants, and their ideas & energy are our greatest strength. For us to get close to what truly matters to them, we need to involve them deeply in the decisions that impact their homes and communities. There are loads of ways to get involved in housing decision-making. Complete a survey, share more detailed ideas in a consultation, or join the conversation at a resident panel.

Meet the Housing & Property Residents' Panel

Since 2022, they've been helping us make better decisions in a huge range of areas, from repairs to antisocial behaviour, and from deep-dives into policy design, to testing and improving new systems with us.

Some of our tenants’ achievements

These are just some of the ways Camden tenants have helped the council make better decisions recently...

Co-designing our new compensation policy

You shared the compensation we offered when we got something wrong didn’t always feel fair. So, we asked our Housing Customer Experience Oversight Panel to tear down our old compensation policy and build a new one with us.

We have co-designed a new “Housing Remedies Policy” with our resident panel members. It was approved by cabinet in July 2025, and we’ve been using it ever since. It’s available at Camden.gov.uk/complaints if you’d like to take a look.

Custom Building Safety Packs

You shared that our Building Safety Packs looked boring and the cover design didn’t show how the information had been curated specially for each building

We have launched a competition for residents to submit and vote on pictures of their building. The winning image for each block will form the new front cover of that block’s Building Safety Pack

Reporting repairs more easily

You shared that our online repairs reporting system was difficult to log in to, didn’t cover all repairs, and lacked basic functionality

We have designed, tested, redesigned, and retested a brand new online Housing Repairs Portal with members of our resident panels. It launched earlier this year, and we’ve kept adding more features since then, like live tracking of repairs

Neighbourhood Action Days

Every fortnight from May to October, we’ve brought dozens of different council services to meet residents where they are at our Neighbourhood Action Days. We invited tens of thousands of households to these events, and held meaningful conversations with over 1,000 residents – listening to people, taking on board what they think, and acting to provide the services our residents need in the way they need them.

Get involved in decision-making at Camden

Every one of our tenants should be able to have their voice heard, especially you! Here are just a couple of the ways you can get involved and start influencing the council decisions that affect you. Got questions? Our tenant participation team are here for you - get in touch at tp@camden.gov.uk and they'll help connect you with engagement opportunities to suit you.

Connect and shape your neighbourhood

When tenants come together, great things happen. From activating communal spaces to being involved in decision-making that impacts you, there are many ways to get involved and help make your estate a better place to call home.
