Camden Planning Guidance Update Phase 1

Closed 12 Jan 2018

Opened 15 Nov 2017

Overview

We are reviewing and updating the Camden Planning Guidance (CPG) documents to support the delivery of the Camden Local Plan following its adoption in summer 2017.

The update is being carried out in two phases to manage the amount of material to be consulted on at any one time and ensure that relevant revised CPG documents take into account the emerging London Plan and changes to national planning policy due in early 2018

The documents being reviewed in phase 1 are CPG 2: Housing (partial review), CPG 4: Basement and lightwells, CPG 5: Town centres, retail and employment, CPG 6: Amenity and elements of CPG 8: Planning obligations.

Why your views matter

Phase 1 Camden Planning Guidance review - Consultation on Draft documents

The draft consultation documents take into account the newly adopted Local Plan, comments received  during initial consultation on the review of CPG, and changes to the national planning policy and guidance. A number of CPG documents have been split into smaller documents to make relevant material easier to find.

We are consulting on the following draft documents :

CPG : Housing

CPG : Advertisements

CPG : Amenity

CPG : Basements

CPG : Biodiversity

CPG : Community uses, leisure facilities and pubs

CPG : Digital infrastructure

CPG : Employment sites and business premises

CPG : Planning for health and wellbeing

CPG : Public open space

CPG : Town centres

What happens next

Taking into account the views we receive we will prepare final versions of the above documents and report them to our Cabinet Member for formal adoption as Supplementary Planning Documents.

Once adopted  the CPG documents can be ‘material considerations’ in planning decisions, although they have less weight than the Local Plan or other development plan documents.

Phase 2  will include a full review of CPG 2 on Housing and reviews of, CPG 1: Design, CPG 3 Sustainability, CPG 7 Transport and remaining elements of CPG 8 Planning obligations.
