Charlotte Street - Percy Street - Rathbone Place - Rathbone Street - improvement schemes consultation

Closed 23 Dec 2011

Results expected 27 Jan 2012

Overview

We are seeking your views on the Council’s proposal to introduce improvements at Charlotte Street / Percy Street / Rathbone Place / Rathbone Street junction, including a raised table, wider footways and cycle stands. This junction, which is placed between the boundary of Camden and Westminster, is located in an area where there is a lot of pedestrian activity due to the presence of restaurants, public houses and cafes. In the evenings, pedestrians tend to congregate on the footway outside the public house and spill over onto the edges of the carriageways due to limited footway width.

The proposals, which have been agreed with Westminster Council, are described in detail in the attached document, with drawings. In addition to this key proposal, the Council will consider other improvements for the area such as repaving footways, installing Legible London signs, street lighting, new cycle parking, benches, raising parking bays and planting street trees.

Why your views matter

We need your views as this consultation is intended to find out if there is broad public support for the proposals set out in this leaflet. As a local resident, business or group, this is your opportunity to let us know what you think.

What happens next

While it will not be possible to reply to you individually, all comments will be taken into account. The Cabinet Member for Sustainability and Transport will make a decision whether or not to proceed with the scheme and you will be informed via the council’s website of the outcome of this consultation within three months, where possible.
