Why your views matter

This consultation seeks to assess the level of support in the local area for introduction of special planning measures to

  • protect the Holly Lodge Estate’s special character and appearance; and
  • retain its attractiveness as a place to live.

The special measures are known as an Article 4(2) Direction and will be applied to all houses in the conservation area.

The direction means that residents will have to apply for planning permission for works to the front of their houses unless they are making like-for-like replacement to windows, doors, boundary walls and gardens.

The occupiers of flats in the area are not directly affected as they already need to apply for planning permission for alterations to their properties.

The information gathered at consultation stage will inform the Council’s decision whether to introduce and confirm the Direction.
