Overview

What is the enforcement plan ?

The draft plan document sets out the Council’s approach to planning enforcement for all those involved in and affected by planning and development in the borough whether developers, businesses or residents to ensure that the Camden 2025 vision is not undermined by breaches of planning control.

Government guidance (The National Planning Policy Framework) recommends that local planning authorities publish a local enforcement plan to manage planning enforcement proactively and in a way that is appropriate to their area. The existing enforcement plan was last updated in 2014 and is in need of updating.

We have sought to make the plan more user friendly for people reporting possible breaches and those who have undertaken work without permission. The plan includes:

  • more information for people reporting a possible breach of planning control;
  • a section for people who are responsible for the breach;
  • an enforcement flowchart – showing what steps will be taken by the enforcement team; and
  • more information on projects – such as estate agents boards (regulation 7 direction), short term lets and construction management plans (CMPs).
