Consultation on a new public space along Euston Road
Overview
Transport for London (TfL), working with us, is consulting on proposals to create a high quality and accessible public space at Euston Circus, the junction of Tottenham Court Road, Euston Road and Hampstead Road.
Why your views matter
The scheme would create a much more attractive and safer area that links a number of important destinations around the junction. We are working closely with TfL on these proposals to transform Euston Road’s busiest junction.
Euston Circus is currently dominated by high levels of traffic and is one of the most polluted locations in London. Euston Road acts as a barrier between communities to the north and south, and this project has the potential to significantly reduce this barrier effect. The proposals aim to give more space to pedestrians and cyclists to make the area a more pleasant place to live, work and visit.
A significant area of road would be removed and replaced with public space, with footway, seating, new trees and a ‘green wall’. The scheme would also see new and improved cycle routes through the junction and significantly improved crossings for pedestrians.
The scheme is designed to be compatible with our proposals to introduce significant public realm improvements in the West End and two-way working on Tottenham Court Road and Gower Street.
