Proposed Public Realm Improvements at Dumpton Place

Closed 16 Jun 2021

Opened 19 May 2021

Overview

We are writing to seek your views on the Council’s proposals to make public realm improvements at Dumpton Place. Officers have developed proposals with the Primrose Hill Conservation Area Advisory Committee and we would now like your views. The proposals aim to create a more attractive space for pedestrians and improve the look and feel of Dumpton Place to make the place a more pleasant place to live and visit. The proposals, if installed would be funded by Section 106 developer funds, which are financial contributions given to the community by developments to help enhance the nearby area.

The proposals consist of extending the existing footways adjacent to The Landsdowne Public House to provide more space for people to walk and socialise, a new footway area outside Whittlebury Mews West, relocation of parking spaces, better cycle parking and new trees. A more detailed descrioption of the proposal is outlined below with a plan attached below.

___________________________________________________________
We are proposing the following changes:

  1. New 2.5m footway would be installed outside Whittlebury Mews West.
  2. New 3m footway buildout outside The Lansdowne – This will require the relocation of the existing Motorcycle parking bay to outside Railway House (shortened by 4m)
  3. New raised table adjacent to the proposed footway buildout (outside The Lansdowne) to slow vehicles and make it more pleasant to cross the road for pedestrians including wheelchair and pushchair users.
  4. New trees to be planted on the carriageway in front of the wall to the rear of Dumpton Place.
  5. All existing single yellow lines on Dumpton Place to be converted to double yellow lines. This will allow loading to nearby developments but prevent the area from being congested by parked cars. Loading will be prohibited close to the junction to ensure that visibility is maintained at the crossing.

The existing perpendicular permit holder bays would be converted to 2 parallel parking bays, improving access, safety and visibility and resulting in the reduction of resident permit holder parking by 3 spaces

Why your views matter

The Council will be pleased to hear your views on the proposals we are consulting upon as well as any alternative suggestions or objections you may have to any aspect of the scheme.
