Mandatory Safeguarding Compliance Check 2017 – All Camden Schools

Section 175 of the Education Act 2002 places a statutory duty on Local Authorities to ensure maintained schools have effective safeguarding arrangements in place to promote the welfare of children. This is in accordance with DfE guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2016)

In line with this duty, all schools are required to complete and return a compliance checklist to the Local Authority. The outcomes will be reported to Camden’s Safeguarding Children Board, including any identified areas of non-compliance.

The 2017 Compliance Checklist

The Checklist contains 24 questions requiring a response and is completed electronically.

To support this process, we have included guidance in the form of “drop down prompts”. This is to help schools evidence their compliance in response to each question. You are also required to include information of any areas of non-compliance.
