Changes to recycling in Camden

Closed 23 Nov 2012

Opened 10 Oct 2012

Overview

We are making changes to the recycling service in Camden to save residents time and to save the Council money.

With the increasing cost of waste disposal and pressure on natural resources we have taken the opportunity to review the recycling service. We are making changes which will improve recycling performance, reduce costs and reduce the environmental impact of the service.

Next summer, we are planning to provide some residents with a wheelie bin so that they can put all of their paper, plastic and glass recycling in one place.

If you are one of these residents you should have received a letter about this.

Why your views matter

The wheelie bin will have plenty of room for more recycling. Experience from other councils that have introduced wheelie bins shows that by providing additional storage capacity the amount of recycling increases. There will still be a separate recycling collection for food and garden waste.

If you have received a letter about this, we would like your views on the size and colour of the wheelie bin you will receive. We would also like to find out about the recycling you do at the moment.

If you have not received a letter, but would like to be considered for a wheelie bin, please fill in the survey. We will then contact you about your request.

There will also be a number of roadshows where you will be able to see the wheelie bins and ask officers any questions about the recycling service changes. Please visit camden.gov.uk for a list of confirmed dates.
