PUBLIC CONSULTATION

PROPOSALS: minor parking amendments on Warner Street junction with Warner Yard to accommodate two new business parking bays

The Council is writing to seek your views on our proposals to create two business parking bays by removing existing single yellow lines on Warner Street. You may recall that the Council consulted you earlier this year on proposals to install a 13 metre business parking bay at Warner Yard junction with Warner Street.

However the proposals have since had to be revised because of an approved proposal to create a new raised table at the same location as part of the North – South Cycle Super Highway Extension Scheme.

The new raised table will create a level crossing point for pedestrians, for this reason vehicles will not be permitted to park on the raised table or on approach to it, this in order to maintain visibility of pedestrians waiting to cross.  In order to successfully accommodate the business parking provision and the new raised table the following amendments would be required:

  1. Creation of one 6.6metre busines bay outside 30 Warner Street, by removing existing single yellow line.
  2. Converting 15metres of existing single yellow line into double yellow lines with no loading/waiting at any time restriction outside 24-28 (The Yard), Warner Street and Warner Yard.
  3. Remove the existing redundant vehicular crossover and single yellow line from outside 52-63, Warner Street and replace it with an 8metre business parking bay.

Illustrations of the original proposals consulted upon in January 2017 and the new proposals we are consulting on now have been included HERE for further detail.

If the above new proposals are approved for implementation, this would result in an overall loss in 30 metres of single yellow line (6 car parking spaces), however in order to minimise the loss of parking opportunities outside of the controlled parking zone hours it has been agreed that the business bays would only be operational between the 07:00hrs – 19:00hrs Mon – Sun, this would allow other vehicles to park in the parking bays outside of these hours. These parking changes follows an application submitted to the Council by a local business for parking provisions to facilitate the operation of their business.
