Air pollution is the biggest environmental risk to our health. It affects everyone, and cleaner air benefits us all.
The draft Plan sets out our priorities for improving air quality and public health between 2027 and 2030, while helping to reduce health inequalities caused by air pollution.
When developing the Plan, we:
- focused on actions that are realistic and achievable over the next four years
- considered the financial resources and legal powers available to the Council
- carefully considered how proposed actions might affect residents, businesses, and other groups
- worked with partners and relevant organisations such as the Greater London Authority and the NHS, to ensure our policies and approaches are aligned
- listened to local people, especially those most affected by air pollution, through a series of community conversations. Their feedback has helped shape this draft plan
What is in the plan?
The proposed actions are organised into three themes. Each theme contains one or more sections covering specific areas of work. There is a total of seven sections.
- Theme 1: Reducing air pollution emissions in Camden
- Section 1: Reducing emissions from buildings
- Section 2: Reducing emissions from transport
- Section 3: Reducing emissions from construction and development
- Section 4: Reducing emissions from other sources in public spaces
- Theme 2: Reducing people's exposure to air pollution
- Section 5: Building public awareness and empowering action
- Section 6: Improving indoor air quality
- Theme 3: Leadership and advocacy
- Section 7: Leading, advocating, and influencing change for clean air
What is different from the 2023-2026 Plan?
The draft Plan introduces four new areas of focus to help respond to emerging challenges:
- being better prepared for pollution incidents
- a greater focus on indoor air quality
- tackling a wider range of pollution sources (e.g. street food markets, filming, public events)
- better linking clean air and climate action.
