Overview

Mandatory Safeguarding Self Assessment Compliance Check 2019 – All Camden Schools

The Children’s Act 2004 places a statutory obligation on named agencies and individuals to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Section 11 of this act makes clear to whom this duty applies. In line with this duty Camden Learning has been commissioned by Camden Safeguarding Chidlren Board (CSCB) to undertake an audit of all Maintained, Independent, Free Schools and Academies in Camden to ensure they have effective safeguarding arrangements in place.

The outcomes will be reported to CSCB, including gaps, strengths, weaknesses as well as any areas for improvement.

The 2019 Compliance Checklist

The Checklist contains 35 questions requiring a response and is to be completed electronically.

To support this process, and to help schools self-assess their compliance in response to each question, we have included examples of evidence required. A few questions require you to provide additional information that will help inform borough wide practice. Schools are also required to include information of any areas of non-compliance and actions to be taken.

Checks should be completed and returned by Wednesday 10th July 2019

For any information or help with the checklist please contact martin.cresswell@camden.gov.uk or Rhian.swain@camden.gov.uk

* Please note in the case of Independent schools, when referencing a governing body/board or individual governor, this could be a board of trustees, proprietor or equivalent person(s).
