Overview

Camden Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board and Islington Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board are both coming to the end of their current three year plans for safeguarding adults – called a 'safeguarding strategy'.

Over the next few months, we will be working together to put a new joint three year safeguarding strategy in place which covers both Camden and Islington.  The new strategy will run from April 2015 to March 2018, and will help us meet our duties under the Care Act.

The aim of the joint strategy will be to help and protect adults in Camden and Islington who are at risk of abuse or who are experiencing abuse and who are unable to protect themselves.  The strategy will set out what each Board and its members organisations have agreed to do to help and protect adults in Camden and Islington.

We have looked at what the governement expects us to do and how well we are doing compared with other local areas across the country.  Both Boards have also used events and focus groups to ask local people what they think needs to be done.

Based on what we have heard, we have identified some actions we could take between 2015 and 2018 to achieve each of the six big areas.  These are our “suggested priorities".  You can read more about them in our background document (also available for download at the bottom of the page):

Why your views matter

Your views and comments will help us to get the strategy right.  We want to understand the many and different concerns of the various groups that make up our local communities.  This will help us to make sure that we're focusing on the right things in our new strategy and tackling the issues that matter most to you.

We would like to hear what you think of our suggested priorities.  Please download the background information document at the bottom of this page to see our suggested priorities.  We would like to hear what you think we should be doing in the next three years to help people stay safe in both boroughs.

If you would prefer to fill the questionnaire out by hand, rather than online, or if you require an easy read version, please use one of the downloadable versions at the bottom of this page.

What happens next

A report on the consultation findings will be available in the New Year and the new strategy will be published by both Safeguarding Adults Partnership Boards in April 2015.  For a copy of the report and/ or the new strategy, please visit www.camden.gov.uk/asg or contact us on camdenSAPB@camden.gov.uk or by telephone on 020 7974 3942.

After we have published the strategy, each Board will agree its own action plan for 2015-16.  It will set out in much more detail the steps each organisation will take to deliver the goals in the strategy that year.  These action plans will be followed by others for 2016-17 and 2017-18.  Each Board will tell you how it gets on in the annual reviews and reports that it publishes each year.
