Camden is rebuilding Highgate Newtown Community Centre. This now called Highgate Newtown Community Partners.
Works are underway, with some delays encountered. The most recent work programme from the contractor - Farrans - shows practical completion of their works in mid-late October 2023. Residents are likely to move into the flats throughout November. Fit-out work is required on the community centre ground and first floors which is being commissioned by HNCP. This means the centre is likely to be open and offering services in 2024.
The new development includes reproviding space for Camden youth services, building new homes, and improving the public realm. You can see the plans on Camden's planning portal by entering the application code 2018/5774/P
The flats and houses which were orginally due to be sold to private buyers have been withdrawn from the market. Camden is re-purposing the units into affordable housing for refugee families by using funds provided by the GLA and Home Office for this eventuality.
A letter for residents explaining the proposal is attached below.
A Construction Working Group has been set up to enable residents and stakeholders to engage directly with the contractors.
Documents relating to the project can be found on this page, and you can provide comments and feedback to the project team.
An online meeting with the contractor, local residents and organisations, council officers and councillors. The aim is to discuss and resolve any issues arising from the construction work.
